About the role

We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our inclusion staffing team. You will play an important role in attracting and selecting high-quality seasonal staff in your local region who will support young people with additional support needs and enable them to participate on NCS with The Challenge programmes in 2018.  You will support the delivery of the recruitment strategy through all stages of the process: from initial attraction of applicants, to screening and assessing candidates, evaluating seasonal staff skills and young people support requirements, matching appropriate seasonal staff to work with young people, overseeing compliance checks, organising additional meetings and training requirements, and supporting staff with any questions and queries up to the point that they start the programme.

Responsibilities

  • Relationship building and lead generation: Researching and building relationships with a variety of sources of seasonal staff including universities, pupil referral units, SEN courses, community organisations, youth charities and public sector organisations.
  • Presentations and Events - organising and presenting at a range of events and fairs to attract seasonal staff.
  • Selection and matching: Using a candidate management system (Salesforce) to screen applications applying to your geographical area. Ensuring all assessments are filled and regularly leading the group assessments, taking responsibility for running a fair process, ensuring a high quality of experience for candidates and placing appropriately qualified staff into relevant roles. Using knowledge and understanding of additional support requirements and disabilities assign an appropriately-qualified seasonal staff member.
  • Candidate Relationship Management :  Responsibility for effective relationship management with all candidates, ensuring they are engaged throughout the recruitment process , tracking their requirements to minimise the risk of dropout, ensure they receive all relevant information regarding the Young Person(s) they will be supporting, attend all required training, and maintain a reserve list where required.
  • Compliance :  Responsibility for ensuring that candidates are compliant with The Challenge’s safeguarding and safer recruitment policies i.e. supporting candidates to complete DBS checks, collecting references and right to work checks.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Understanding of what support is required for young people with a wide range of additional support needs.
  • Relationship- building and networking skills, with experience in engaging with and influencing internal and external stakeholders.
  • A positive and efficient approach to tasks with a strong attention to detail.
  • Problem- solving skills and the ability to work effectively in pressured situations.
  • Flexibility in approaches to work, with the resilience to deal with uncertain or unexpected situations.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team to reach targets.
  • High-level oral and written communication skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong customer focus with a track record in delivering excellent customer service.

Desirable

  • Experience of handling sensitive information in an appropriate manner.
  • Experience of recruiting staff or volunteers, ideally to work with young people, people with additional support requirements or in the third sector.
  • Knowledge of disability legislation and best practice; Child Protection legislation, policy and guidance; Children in Care legislation; and/or Safeguarding children and young people policy.
  • Experience of using candidate relationship management systems e.g Salesforce.
  • Experience of public speaking and/or presenting to large audiences.
  • Ability to promote inclusion issues across the organisation and to collaborate with other departments.
  • An interest in building stronger, more inclusive, communities and seeing change in society.
  • Ability to promote and implement the organisation’s inclusion ethos in their day to day work and to actively promote inclusion issues across departments.
  • Strong data analysis skills and a good working proficiency of tools such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Google Drive/Gmail.
