NCS Delivery Training Associate Manager
Location: London and some travel to Reading and Surrey
Role: 4 months full time, fixed-term contract
Work Dates: Tuesday 15th April – Monday 15th July (Mon-Fri with some weekend working)
Reports to: Regional Training Manager
Payment: £27,000 pro rata

Reporting to the NCS Regional Training Manager. You will be part of a team responsible for delivering high quality training events to over 2000 NCS delivery staff. You role will cover all the logistical aspects of setting up for training (venues, equipment etc) to provide the best possible learning environment. You will also support the recruitment of experienced trainers and ensure they are fully prepared for their role by excellent ‘train the trainer’ training and supported with effective line management throughout delivery. The role involves contributing to the development of training and assessment content for the trainers including session curriculum and resources.
- Training Events: Set-up and deliver excellent training events to roughly 2000 NCS seasonal staff, including all logistical requirements including venue sourcing and preparing all necessary resources and equipment for scheduled events.
- Resource Management: Manage the storage and stocking of training resources and equipment throughout the training season.
- Contribute to development of assessment and training materials and resources under direction of the Regional NCS Training Manager
- Contribute to the annual planning and budget process of the wider NCS training team
- Trainer Recruitment: Supporting with recruitment, training, and development of a high quality pool of trainers under guidance from Regional NCS Training Manager.
- ‘Train the Trainer’ events: Delivering high quality training to external trainers and practically support their training delivery, ensuring our ethos and mission are embedded into every training session.
- Line-Management: support the development of Lead trainers including giving developmental feedback where appropriate, and line manage them during training window
- Quality Assurance: This will involve attending various training events and effectively supporting Lead trainers to problem solve on the ground to ensure smooth running training events across the region. This will involve weekend work throughout training delivery period (TOIL will be provided for events outside of normal working hours, as agreed with employee’s line manager)
- Event safety and compliance: Management and review of venue risk assessments, and reporting of accidents and incidents, under guidance from Regional NCS Training Manager.
- Training Evaluation: support the monitoring and evaluation of the training events throughout the year to ensure effective systems and strategies for all departments.
- Ad hoc Training Delivery: Working alongside the Regional NCS Training Manager to provide training support and cover where necessary and responding to any incidents or issues which arise as a result of training delivery.
- Experienced Training Facilitator: Experience of delivering engaging and impactful training sessions to a wide range of recipients.
- Logistical Skills: Experience of working on complex projects in short timeframes and track record of meeting deadlines.
- Able to work collaboratively with people on projects across various departments and locations
- Project Management and Logistics: Experience managing large scale events or projects in a paid or voluntary setting e.g. managing youth programmes or complex events
- People Management: Experience of managing or motivating small groups of people in stressful environments (in a paid or voluntary capacity). Previous line management or volunteer management experience desirable.
- Experience writing training content: understanding of different learning and designing training content that would be suitable to a wide variety of learners.
- Experience of working in a fast paced and demanding environment, ability to work well under pressure and prioritise a heavy workload.
- Experience of NCS programme: working knowledge of the NCS programme either with The Challenge or another NCS provider
- Youth-work Experience: Experience working with groups of young people (in voluntary or paid capacity).
- Character: Strikingly positive attitude and integrity with a passion for building stronger communities and belief in social integration.
