Challenge Society success in the West Midlands

Last November, we launched an exciting new pilot project for our Coventry and Warwickshire NCS graduates. Funded by The Dulverton Trust, the project has engaged over 100 young people to date in volunteering and social action projects, including a sleep out with Coventry and Warwickshire YMCA, stewarding at Coventry Half Marathon and working on a research project with local radio station, Radio Plus.

Delivered as part of our NCS alumni programme, The Challenge Society, the project supports young people in gaining the skills and attributes needed to develop their full potential. The project also provides young people with ongoing opportunities to become active members of their local community.

Through this project, our NCS graduates have been given opportunities to get involved with a number of community events and activities, including the Coventry Walkathon and Colour Blast Dash, where money was raised for the MS Society and the Laura Centre, who provide support to bereaved families and children.

To conclude the project, graduates are now taking part in a 5-week intensive social action journey.

We are very proud of all that the young people have achieved through this project and wish them all the best with the final leg.
