Saturday 21st January saw the launch of Challenge Community Action Teams. The new initiative is being run in collaboration with the ‘O2 Think Big’ campaign which allows 13-25 year olds to turn their ideas into reality. Budding social entrepreneurs are given up to £300 as well as training and support to run a project that betters their local community.

Over 45 Challenge graduates attended the workshop, held at Bain & Company London offices, where they spent the day learning about how to run effective community projects. As a result, 8 Community Action Teams have been formed and all will be applying for funding to implement projects over the next 6 months.

The day was attended by Elina, 2009 Challenge graduate and Senior Associate Mentor on the 2011 programme. She stated, “It was wonderful to see so many determined young people willing to create a great impact on their community” Hannah Jenkins, West London Programme Associate said, “It was great to see a variety of young people keen to dedicate time to these projects over the next 6 months. Doing this will really improve their confidence in their own ideas and ensure that they stand up and make change happen in the future.”
