On June 13, graduate Mayowa Quadri represented The Challenge Network at a reception held at Downing Street. Mayowa was one of 15 young people invited to be part of a policy roundtable discussion looking at how to encourage young people into community volunteering.

The discussion was chaired by Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd and Radio 1Xtra DJ Mistajam. It was also attended by Dame Julia Cleverdon and Amanda Jordan OBE who are currently exploring the idea of a decade of social action for young people aged 10-20. Mayowa had the chance to meet the Prime Minister at an evening reception held later that day and will also join the Prime Minister at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games!

We are pleased to announce that Mayowa has recently been appointed to our Board of Trustees as a youth trustee along with fellow 2011 graduate Alastair Wilkinson from Bury (bottom photo). Mayowa and Alistair will join Marcus Martin on the board, replacing Eleanor Boyer who is stepping down after nearly 2 years as one of our first ever youth trustees. Eleanor has done a tremendous job and we look forward to working with Mayowa and Alistair.
