The Challenge now in full swing

Our summer programme has got off to a flying start. Over 1,500 young people have already completed the first elements of the four part programme, with 3,000 currently on the programme and another 5,000 signed up and ready to take part.

Last week, our newly appointed Chairman Colin Smith took to the spotlight in appearances on BBC programmes Daily Politics on Wednesday and PM programme on Thursday. Both appearances were opportunities for Colin to elaborate points made in an article he wrote in The Times newspaper on June 26.

On June 13, graduate Mayowa Quadri represented The Challenge Network at a reception held at Downing Street. Mayowa was one of 15 young people invited to be part of a policy roundtable discussion looking at how to encourage young people into community volunteering.

Graduates grill business leaders

On July 3, Challenge graduates took part in an event entitled ‘The Big Conversation’. The event, held at the Royal Festival Hall, was organised by the Office for Civil Society and Business in the Community. Over 30 Challenge graduates joined other graduates of the National Citizen Service as they met top business leaders to scope opportunities for work experience and gain careers advice.
