The programme

NCS with The Challenge is an exciting, unique opportunity for 16-17 year olds in the summer after your exams. The programme begins with 3 challenges (some of which are residential) over 15 days with breaks throughout, and is followed by four social action days which take place on weekends in the autumn.

Missed out this summer? Join our autumn programme and achieve all of the benefits of The Challenge and NCS in just one week. Click here for more details.

The Challenge delivers National Citizen Service (NCS), a government-funded programme.

Each place is worth hundreds of pounds, but the standard price is just £50, with discounts and bursaries available. There are no hidden extra costs such as kit or spending money.

  • This is the outdoor challenge of a lifetime. Develop leadership and teamwork skills, create friendships and build confidence, working with some of the best outdoor instructors in the UK in beautiful countryside.

  • Take on a challenge in the real world. Stay in your own room in university flats and get to experience student life. During the day develop a new skill in one of drama, enterprise, media, photography or sport, working with industry professionals to put it into practice in the real world.

  • Now you take over! Make the most of this unique opportunity to design your own project to benefit your local area.

Get advice from industry professionals who will help you pitch your ideas to an expert panel of judges.

Over 4 weekend days in the autumn make your team’s ideas come to life, and convert ideas into action, demonstrating impressive skills which have been developed over the summer.

  • This is your chance to celebrate your achievements! Once you’ve completed the programme, you will be invited to a formal graduation ceremony to receive your NCS certificate and become part of our graduate programme, The Challenge Society (TCS). The Challenge Society gives you access to a wide range of exclusive events, activities and exciting opportunities. Click here to learn more
