    About the role

    The Product Team is responsible for providing innovative solutions to the logistics and systems challenges faced by our Operations department in delivering NCS with The Challenge, a government funded programme that this year will see us work with over 3,000 staff and 20,000 young people. The Product Coordinator will report to one of the Product Assistant Managers and work as part of a team to ensure the success of The Challenge’s 2014 delivery of NCS.

    The Product Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will be:

    • Innovation: finding new and creative solutions to the challenges posed by delivery of NCS; this may include procuring and developing new systems and piloting new ideas.
    • Training and support: creating online training resources and providing face to face support for our operational teams as they deliver NCS, as well as working alongside our operational teams to identify areas for further improvement.
    • Process management: working alongside the Product team to oversee the centrally managed processes involved in NCS delivery.

    About the role

    The department’s main role is to sign up young people to NCS powered by The Challenge. This role will develop already-strong communication and relationship building skills and have an impact on the sales and marketing strategy.

    The SC’s primary responsibilities will be:

    • Building awareness of, and excitement about, the programme with young people by e.g. attending meetings, delivering presentations and events, phone calls.
    • Assisting applicants and parents/ guardians through the process from initial expression of interest to assignment onto the programme.
    • Administrative duties to support marketing and sign up processes.

    About the role

    The National Brand & Marketing Lead is responsible for developing and delivering the branding and marketing campaign to drive uptake of our National Citizen Service (NCS) programme with a representative mix of young people from the areas in which we work. This includes re-branding (when and if appropriate), managing the marketing plan, and coordinating the full range of marketing tactics including those required by the wider sales and marketing team.

    This role is responsible for managing the strategy and delivery of all of the messaging, materials and merchandise that is used by the 100 plus strong sales teams across the country as well as the digital and social media channels. The brand is intrinsically linked to the NCS branding and ensuring a strong relationship with NCS Trust and all of our other suppliers and stakeholders is a crucial part of the role.

    In addition the National Brand and Marketing lead is responsible for the branding of The Challenge as an organization and in external communications across the main touch points and acting as an advisor to other departments such as Fundraising, Programmes and Staffing as well as providing marketing services support to other programmes that the organization runs such as Step Forward and Head Start.

    The role, which reports into the Sales & Marketing Director, is based in London but will have some travel (2-3 days per month) to Birmingham and Manchester to work with a variety of our sales and marketing teams.

    The primary responsibilities will be:

    • Provide input into the overall sales and marketing strategy
    • Develop and deliver the annual marketing plan, in active collaboration with the Marketing Managers, aligned with the overall sales and marketing strategy
      • Include clear description of channel mix and indicative ROI by stakeholder segment (young people vs. parents vs. teachers, etc.)
      • Include metrics of marketing success for each channel/ segment (e.g., brand awareness, expressions of interest, uptake, overall market penetration, etc.), and active monitoring
      • Use robust market insights (and develop new insights as required) to understand the market, the segments, the target segments.
      • Based on the market insights, generate for each target segment [i] the drivers of behavior and barriers to change, and [ii] the value proposition/ key messages specific to each segment/ stakeholder group
      • Ensure marketing is inclusive, resulting in a mix of young people, representative of local communities, across all socio-economic and demographic divides.
      • Co-ordinate the development of all marketing materials including those developed by the Marketing Managers. Ensure all materials:
    • Maintain a strong partnership with the NCS Trust to deliver the NCS marketing plan. Ensure close and strong collaboration, and effective implementation of the strategy and tactics (including brand guidelines etc.) from the Trust
    • Collaborative and mutually supportive relationship with The Challenge NCS Sales teams. Actively seek input, ensure all marketing tactics have full buy-in, and ensure all materials are tested and appropriately trained out and used.  
    • Manage the central marketing team. This team comprises a National Campaigns Manager, and a Social and Digital Manager.

  • Assistant Programme Manager

    About the role

    The Assistant Programme Manager (APM) will work with a Programme Manager to set up and deliver NCS with The Challenge programme for up to 300 young people in one geographical area. The Programme Associate’s primary responsibilities will be to:

    • Prepare a high quality and locally grounded NCS with The Challenge programme
      • Set up Community Projects: Work with local community organisations to prepare projects where young people can make a difference
      • Plan Logistics: Manage logistics planning including liaising with transport providers, food delivery and accommodation
      • Select and Train Summer Staff: Support staff recruitment for the delivery of the Programme, then run and support training events for other staff
      • Support the delivery of your NCS with The Challenge programmes
        • Oversee the logistics throughout the delivery of the programme e.g. liaise with community partners and venue providers and coordinate coach and minibus transport
        • Support up to 6 teams of pastoral staff during the summer/autumn ensuring all runs smoothly

    We are looking for outstanding individuals with the following qualities:

    • Youth-work Leadership: Experience of working directly with groups of teenagers in a residential enviroment, in a voluntary or paid capacity.  Ideally as a Programme Leader with NCS with The Challenge programme.
    • Project & Event Management: Experience managing events or projects in a paid or voluntary setting e.g.  managing youth programmes or complex events
    • People Management: Experience of managing or motivating groups of people in stressful environments (in a paid or voluntary capacity)
    • Creative Community Engagement: Experience of working with diverse community groups. Interest in building stronger communities and seeing change in society

    About the role

    HeadStart motivates young people to contribute to their community through a programme of volunteering in return for a guaranteed job interview. The assistant manager role will be based in West London to set up and deliver a new HeadStart pilot in this area. Using your experience with young people and communities you will market the programme, build local partnerships, and ensure a high quality programme is delivered.

    The HeadStart Assistant Manager’s primary responsibilities will be:

    • Develop and manage local relationships: With community and business partners to ensure the projects run smoothly.
      • Set up Community Projects: Work with local community organisations to enable volunteer placements where young people can make a difference.
      • Recruit & Support Participants: Market the programme to young people who have graduated from NCS with The Challenge and continue to motivate them to successfully complete their placements.
      • Deliver the programme: Setup and deliver the programme, including leading work ready workshops and an assessment day to a large group of young people.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation: Support on the collection and analysis of monitoring data for your area. Regularly evaluate quality of programme and use key learning to form recommendations for the future direction of the programme.

    We are looking for a motivated Accounting tutor who would like to help shape our new and innovative programme.  You will be teaching for 1 day per week, mentoring learners for 2 days per week and doing general programme administration for 2 days per week.

    About the role

    The staffing department will recruit 3500 leaders, mentors, practitioners and other staff to work on the NCS with The Challenge spring, summer and autumn programmes in 2015.

    The Staffing Associate is responsible for the recruitment and selection of summer staff in the Black Country to work with young people on the NCS with The Challenge spring, summer and autumn programmes.

    The Staffing Associates primary responsibilities will be:

    Attraction and sales Building relationships with and presenting to a variety of sources of summer staff, including universities, youth charities and public sector organisations in order to recruit temporary staff

     

    Selection Using Candidate Management System to screen applications, leading group selection events and matching the needs of young people with appropriately-qualified staff

    Communication Ensure summer staff are informed of all information regarding the dates and location for their role, responsible for relationship management with all candidates and liaising to ensure clear communication prior to start of role.

    The Systems Associate will work will work closely with internal clients and within the Systems department, focusing on systems built within Salesforce or integrated with Salesforce. The Systems Associate will report to a Systems Manager.

    The primary responsibilities for this role are:

    • Update systems: Develop an understanding of all of the systems for the clients for which you are responsible. Update systems to accommodate the needs of clients. Create technical documentation. Liaise with external suppliers.
    • Client liaison and account management: Work with our clients to understand their business processes and requirements.
    • Support users: Understand and resolve issues that are raised by our users.
    • Training: Create documentation and guidance. Create and deliver training, as required.

    About the role

    The Data Analyst will work within the Systems department to ensure that the data collected on our programmes is correct and of high quality. The role will encompass both the analysis of data, and the resolution of any issues with inconsistent or missing data.

    The Data Analyst’s primary responsibilities will be:

    • Importing data into reporting systems.
    • Analysing data to identify missing, incorrect or inconsistent data
    • Liaising with colleagues within The Challenge to resolve errors and inconsistencies, and to obtain missing data
    • Liaising with our partner organisations to resolve errors and inconsistencies, and to obtain missing data
    • Working with the Finance team to ensure correct data is included in invoices
