On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September, young people joined forces with volunteers and service users of Our Place Community Hub in Sutton Coldfield to transform an outdoor area of tarmac into a spectacular community garden as part of a Real Challenge Action project.

The young people enjoyed mucking in and were not afraid to get their hands dirty as they got to work painting fences and handrails, creating raised flower beds and helping to create a sensory area.

Kelly Round, Manager of Our Place Community Hub said “I’m overwhelmed by what they managed to create in our outdoor space. They should all be very proud of their efforts! We have had some great feedback from the service users and I look forward to working together again in the future.”

The project took months of planning and fundraising and is a great example of what can be achieved for the benefit of the community when local people work together.
