One young Challenge graduate was recently offered a prestigious work experience placement with Barclays Bank. The opportunity came about due to a collaboration of efforts from The Challenge Network’s graduate programme, The Challenge Society and business partner, Ernst & Young.

Seventeen year old Chijioke Anosike (CJ) completed the National Citizen Service programme in 2012. Prior to his placement at Barclays, CJ was part of a Youth Board and made his interest in a career in finance known to Programme Manager Lauren Kocher.

Mahdi Shariff, Corporate Finance Analyst at Ernst & Young stated, ‘I sent the opportunity from SEO London to Lauren, as I want to ensure that all young people have equal access to opportunities. We understand how tough the process is, so we arranged for the applicants to have their CV’s checked by a colleague, Mital Selarka, and are really pleased with the result!’

CJ spoke about his experience, ‘The Challenge has opened up so many opportunities for me, from career workshops with Goldman Sachs, to CV checks by Ernst & Young and the Internship at Barclays Bank, they’ve showed me that many things I deemed to be difficult are actually easy, if you put the work in, it’s possible.
