About the opportunity

This leader will staff the UKs most rapidly growing summer youth and community programme as well as build and support a UK-wide full-time team.

The HR and Staffing Manager’s primary responsibilities are:

  • Develop strong university and pan-university relationships; implement the student/graduate recruiting strategy and process for summer volunteer and year-round intern roles
  • Manage the selection process for experienced summer and year-round core team roles
  • Identify and develop creative & non-traditional candidate sources
  • Build The Challenge ‘Staff & Friends’ referral programme
  • Manage generalist HR support to c. 65 core staff
  • Manage contracting and onboarding of c. 1000 summer staff
  • Manage one full-time intern, shared staff resources and interim staff and volunteers to deliver staffing and HR services

About you

We are looking for exceptional candidates with the following experience and characteristics:

Essential:

  • Hands on generalist HR experience
  • Graduate staffing/recruiting experience
  • Personal and non-bureaucratic approach for managing internal and external relationships
  • Comfort with data analysis and interpretation as applied to staffing and HR operations
  • Comfort with contributing to activities outside your functional specialty

Beneficial:

  • CIPD qualification
  • HR experience with high-volume short-term/seasonal work force
  • High-volume in-house recruiting experience
  • Experience managing relationships with external organisations

Further details

  • This is a full time role based in London, starting in October, 2010.
  • Salary for the role is £30k-35k per year.  We also offer a stakeholder pension, a Cycle to Work scheme and opportunities for flexible working.
