Working as a new member of our Central Communications team you will play a key role in communicating with young people and their parents. You’ll need strong verbal and written communication and information management skills. About ‘The Challenge’ programme

We bring together sixteen and seventeen -year-olds from across the country and challenge them to connect with people from different backgrounds, learn key skills for the workplace, and make a difference in their community.  They achieve this by completing three challenges: 

  • The Personal Challenge: Socially mixed teams of young people bond through a week of challenging outdoor activities.
  • The Team Challenge: Teams return home and use their skills to experience serving the local community.
  • The Real Challenge: Teams work to design and organise activities that will bring the local community together.

Successful teams graduate from The Challenge and are directed into new volunteering and employment opportunities.

 

About the opportunity

The Central Communications department works across all The Challenge Network’s functions, managing communications, systems and processes. This is a great opportunity to see how a whole business works and drive the organisation’s ability to operate at national scale.

 

The Central Communications Administrator’s primary responsibilities are: 

  • Communicating with applicants, participants and parents across a variety of channels
  • Coordinating mass and individualised communications with applicants, participants, parents, summer staff, alumni staff and alumni young people
  • Managing applications and associated information for prospective participants from first contact through to start date
  • Managing content in central information systems.

 

About you

We are looking for exceptional candidates with the following experience and characteristics:

 

Essential:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Great attention to detail, even when handling large volumes of information
  • Comfort with standard computer tools like Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Willingness to jump into new things, as well as patience to give full effort to ‘routine’ things
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and positive personality
  • Ability to think logically and analytically

 

Beneficial:

  • Experience in an office environment
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM database

 

 

Further details

  • We have a number of fixed term roles starting from December 2012/January 2013 – September 2013, based in London at our offices near Lambeth North and Waterloo stations. 
  • Salary for the role is £15,500 per year, as these roles are fixed term you will be paid pro rata
  • This is a full-time role (35 hours per week). You will be required to work shifts including Saturdays so you will need to be flexible. Standard office hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, but a shift system will operate during some periods of the year.  During such periods, shifts may start at 8.30am, Monday to Friday, and 9am on Saturdays.  Shifts may end at 7.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 6pm on Saturdays.
  • We also offer a stakeholder pension and a Cycle to Work scheme.
