About the Opportunity

We are looking for a confident and experienced HR assistant with previous experience. The role is working closely with the HR Manager and the HR &Training Officer assisting them with day to day HR admin tasks such as creating contrcats, gathering information for payroll, getting references for new starters, placing job adverts, filing etc. Although working in a team, the role is independent and the right person will feel ownership and autonomy over their work.


Some of the HR Assistant’s key responsibilities are:


  • To assist with the new starter administration process; issuing contracts, gathering payroll information such as bank details, and tax documents, issuing CRB, collecting references etc, in time for scheduled monthly payroll.
  • Issue contract variation letters
  • Processing employees’ personal information changes such as address changes, name changes etc. ensuring payroll is informed
  • To maintain and update staff details in the payroll spreadsheet/database
  • Post job adverts online and on the company website
  • Liaise with external payroll company regarding tax documentation
  • Act as first point of contact in the HR Department
  • Creating new personnel files for HR filing cabinets and moving files  to leaver drawers / archiving when appropriate



Person Specification

We are looking for an exceptional individual with the following qualities:



  • Previous administrative experience
  • Be able to work accurately with good attention to detail
  • Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
  • To have a proactive and mature approach to work
  • Confident with being able to prioritize tasks
  • Good time management skills and ability to work towards deadlines
  • An assertive attitude when appropriate- a ‘go get’ attitude



  • HR qualification or other university degree
  • Confident with all Microsoft Office software packages
  • Used to working with a HR Database
  • Confident to challenge traditional ways of working if those are not in line with best practice guidelines
  • Enjoy working with numbers and statistics
