The event was organised by Assistant Programme Manager, Will Ward, to raise money for Manchester Deaf Centre. The funding will go towards supporting MDC in providing essential services for their beneficiaries. Will was supported by Gemma Christen, a Youth Leader at MDC. This is the first time young people from both organisations have taken part in such an event.
Gemma Christen commented, ‘Doing the Three Peak Challenge was an invaluable experience for all of the young people involved. They were challenged both physically and mentally, beyond their expectations. Many went away with the satisfaction of knowing they had pushed themselves to the limit of their endurance.’
Ed Curry, Programme Manager said, ‘The most surprising part of the day was seeing how well the young people communicated with each other. Although our graduates did not know how to sign, there was no language barrier and all the participants managed to complete the challenge through effective team work.’
The young people have raised over £500 so far, with donations still being collected. This is a huge achievement and we are very proud of all those who took part and helped to organise the event.
